 The main codes:

  • A = an Article,

  • C = Contents (i.e. direct links to various articles),

  • L = Links (mainly links to other sites),

  • HP = Something that looks like a Home Page (this may not necessarily be the site's home page. However it looks like a home page - with a variety of internal links to different types of pages and resources. These links are normally spread around the page rather than as a list.)

  • I means the site is only useful when connected to the Internet. (eg Some Quizzes can be worked on offline. Others can only be scored online. These would be marked with an "I".)

  • *** = A brilliant site. Most of the site will be on the CD - sometimes many thousands of files and 10's of Mb of information.

  • ** = A very good site

  • * = Particularly recommended

  • Zero Stars = A recommended site - one of the best available - or it wouldn't be on the CD.

The other codes:

  • $ means a site is set up with a stronger orientation towards making money rather than providing useful resources. Its unlikely you'll find any of these in our library, but you may find an

  • S$ = Semi $ or Semi focus on making money. This site has some good resources in it, but there's also a lot contents primarily oriented to making money rather than providing resources

  • - For Audio Visual Materials: A/V = Audio Visual Materials, D=Downloadable, S=Streaming Media, Au=Audio, V=Video

  • - For Books: Bo = Books, W=Web-based, Wo=Word Document, P=PDF Format, T =Text. Also look for books listed under "Courses".

  • - For Courses: Co = Course. This may be Web-Based Courses, or Workbooks with Exercises. W=Web-based, Wo=Word Document, P=PDF Format, T =Text, B=Book,

  • Full stops (eg "..") are used to show when a link is repeated a second time.

    • If you use this Web Library a lot then its useful to know if a link given is new, if it takes you to a part of a site that has already been listed, or if it's a duplicate listing.

    • Sometimes we have included links to part of a website that has been mentioned elsewhere. If this is the case it will have a single full stop before the link. - eg .Fast Company Magazine Articles on Entrepreneurship

    • The second (or third ..) mention of a link has two full stops before the link - eg ..Project Zone-Great Management links

  • CAPITALS have been used for topics of particular interest (such as free audio-visual materials, books and courses).

THE COLOURS

  • Throughout our web site, any links in this colour, take you INSTANTLY to a different part of the same page as you are viewing. (To get back simply press the "Back" button or use the "Page Up/Down" keys on your keyboard.

  • Links that haven't been visited are normally in this colour.

  • LInks that have been visited are normally in this colour.

A NOTE ON SPELLING

  • Where possible we use international English spelling: - e.g. "colour". However, if we are using materials produced by another organisation operating in the USA then we will use the spelling they use: - e.g. "color".
